Aloud ("we", "the app") helps you practice spoken English (and other languages) and gives you pronunciation feedback. This page explains what data we collect and how it's used.
When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password, we store your email address, display name, and sign-in provider. If you register with email/password, your password is stored as a salted hash — we never store or see your plaintext password.
When you record a practice session, your audio is sent to our backend and forwarded to third-party speech services (Deepgram for transcription, Microsoft Azure for pronunciation scoring) to generate your results. Raw audio is processed to produce a transcript and scores and is not permanently stored by us. The resulting transcript, scores, and session summary are saved to your account so your history and progress sync across devices.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms and do not use your data to train their models beyond what's needed to provide the service.
We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. We don't share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
You can delete your account and all associated data (profile, session history, progress) at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. This permanently removes your data from our servers. You can also email us at aloudapp.support@gmail.com to request deletion or ask questions about your data.
Aloud is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
